Wow! That's a great list. The world of fiction, as written by LDS writers, has really come into its own, hasn't it?

In the meantime, I wanted to share: I posted this on my blog today:

"Okay, I'll admit it. Anne Bradshaw over at Not Entirely British did a really good thing and I am shamelessly borrowing from her idea of spotlighting the most amazing youth in the world. I think it is incredible what she has done and the youth that are the finalists in her contest are truly amazing. If you haven't gone to her blog yet, read about them and vote, you're going to want to do that as soon as you're done reading mine, submitting a nomination and generally recognizing that I'm the greatest blogger to ever walk the earth . . . all right, all right, you don't have to do that last part. As long as it exists in my mind I'm okay with that.

Announcing the Best Husband in the World Contest -- please check out my blog today."

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, right?

Stephanie, you've gone to a lot of work compiling this list. Would you mind very much if I copied it over onto my blog?

Not at all, just let people know where it came from. And if you can think of any more, because I know there are, let me know so I can add them. I'll probably add more this evening.

Would you mind adding my book to your list?

First Day by Allyson Condie

Also, Shannon Hale has another book coming out in September that is eligible. It's called Book of A Thousand Days.

Thanks so much!

Done. Thanks for letting me know about your book. There are so many, it is easy to let one slip through the cracks.

Andrew - I have added your list to mine. I left Kerry Blair off because she is on the Whitney committee this year and therefore not eligible. I also had a question about the release date of Willard Gardner's the Operative. It seems to have been released in 2006. I also couldn't find links for a few.

I'd like for my book, Hazardous Duty, to be added to your list. Thanks!

Stephanie, my December column on Meridian will have a link to the Whitney Page and thus to your "eligible" list. Would you please add two new novels which have been released this month: At Heaven's Door by Anita Stansfield and The Refiner's Gift by Sherry Ann Miller. They're both conclusions to series and I won't have reviews of them out until January since I am devoting my column to Christmas books and the Whitney Awards this month. Thanks,
Jennie Hansen

I loved Kay Lynn Mangum's book A Love Like Lilly. I noticed that it's not on the list. Could that be added?

Also I have a question. If someone has published a book on their own, could that be added to the list, too, even though the book isn't in bookstores?

Stephanie Humphreys said...

I added A Love Like Lily. I think self-published books are eligible. Check out the whitneyawards.com to find out for sure.

I checked the website and they're eligible. The author or publisher can't nominate them though, but other people can. So I would like to add the book called Not Forever by Jennifer Carson Shelton. It was published November 2007. Let me know if you need further information. Thanks.

As flattered as I am that someone would want to nominate my book, "A Love Like Lilly," my understanding is that only books published in 2007 are eligible. "Love Like Lilly" was published in 2006, so I think it will need to be removed from the list -- is that correct?
