New Motivation

I found a whole new motivation to sit at the computer and write. My oldest daughter got her learners permit today and is excited to get behind the wheel. I drove to the church parking lot and let her drive around for awhile. Then I let her drive the two blocks to our house. I think I aged twenty years in twenty minutes.

So I figure if I keep very busy writing and getting the latest story done, she'll have to get her dad to teach her. I keep my youth, the story gets done, and she gets to drive. As for her dad, he's already taught three kids, so I figure he's got it under control. The scariest thing is my son thinks he should get his the minute he turns fourteen next month. I don't know if I can handle two teenagers learning to drive. I may have to start coloring my hair.

Shoot, I thought I left a message, but I think maybe I didn't send it correctly! Darn! well, I just wanted to say I feel for ya! And I can't believe you're old enough to have two teenagers old enough to drive!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I've met you in person, Stephanie, and if you have a daughter that's old enough to drive either a) you had her when you were twelve b) they give learners permits to eight year olds in Canada. And your husband has taught 3 kids to drive? Your kids? And you have an ex-mother in law? You got some 'splainin to do for me girl, cause you've got me all kinds of confoosaled. I think I've missed some blogs :-)

Alright Josi, I'll see if I can clear this up a little. I got married when I was 20, had three kids, got divorced after 5 years, did the single mom thing for 3 1/2 years, got married again. My husband has three older children who he taught to drive making him much more qualified to teach the kids than I am.

As far as looking young, you and Ali both made my day. When I was at the conference, I was sitting at a table with my sister-in-law and another lady. We went to get lunch and the other lady didn't come back. My sister-in-law went out with her baby and I ended up eating lunch by myself. The other lady came back much later and apologized for leaving me on my own. She thought I would be eating lunch with my daughter and wouldn't miss her. Boy, I felt old for the rest of the day!
