Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

I finally finished the third book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. After reading the first two books, I wanted to find out how things were resolved. In this book, Bella's story continues as she tries to sort out her relationships with Edward and Jacob. As the characters in the book deal with their own feelings, there are outside influences causing other problems. Bella's life is in danger once again and the vampires and werewolves have to put aside their differences to protect her.

Like the previous books, I still had a hard time liking Bella and often found her whiney and far too dependent on both guys. Stephenie Meyer writes in a way that holds my interest and keeps me reading until the end, but in the long run, I wish she could have given me a character to root for. I liked Jacob the most and wished he could have come out happier in the end. It bothered me that Edward always spent the night, and always behind her father's back. This book is marketed as young adult fiction, but I wouldn't recommend it to my teenage daughter. But I do wonder what the author will come up with next.

Yes! With all the craze about these books, I feel like I'm the only person who thinks this way.

I like Meyer's writing style--it's easy to read, and she's very talented in crafting descriptions--but I don't really care about her characters or what's happening. I've only read the first book, and I just don't care enough to go on. Bella is annoying beyond words and Edward is a total control freak.

But I'm afraid I'm the exception to the rule.

Stephanie, I know I had your e-mail address at one point, but I must have deleted it without saving it. Go back to my blog, click on my profile and e-mail the address you want me to send the cre9buzz invitation to. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the tag, Carole. It might take me a few days to think of some really good lies.

Stephenie Meyer has a book that will be released May 1, 2008- "The Host". Check it out on Amazon. It's up for pre-ordering. I am not a huge science fiction reader- but I like how Stephenie can make the plots seem so realistic with a love story flowing through it. I'm looking forward to reading it. :)

Yeah, I have a hard time liking Bella at times. And everyone seems so consumed by their love for someone that it verges on unhealthy. This book is definetely for older readers as when-will-Bella-and-Edward-have-sex is one of the story questions.

Your sentiments exactly reflect my own Stephanie. Couldn't put the books down, but in the end, I wasn't too thrilled with Bella or Edward. I loved Jacob.

Jannette - I agree about the older readers. I certainly won't be encouraging my teenage daughter to read it.

Ali - I am a Jacob fan too.

Ajoy - I'll have to check out her new book. Even though I didn't like her characters, I found her writing style engaging.
