Lest We Forget

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Great poem, it's always good to remember what was done for us.

I live in Alberta as well and I tried to follow you, but for some reason your followers list wasn't showing up.

Thanks for stopping by. It is always great to "meet" other Alberta writers.
I stopped in at your blog and became a follower.

This is so beautiful. I missed being in Canada on Remembrance Day ~ I do every year. I miss the red poppies. The feeling amongst everyone you meet that we all respect and love our soldiers. It's just not the same here in the US.

I'm sorry I haven't been a more faithful friend Stephanie. I've always liked you so much and I'm so very happy for you and the release of FINDING ROSE! ((hugs))

Lovely poem. I'm from the USA, but I believe ALL soldiers should be remembered for their courage and sacrifice. My husband, father, father-in-law, paternal grandfather, and a grandfather-in-law were all veterans of wartime combat.

Hugs~
